  1. i've been doing some VHS captures from my ADVC-100 and i really want to clean up the picture as much as possible to transfer the material to DVD.

there are a ton of options in cleaner 6.. gamma, sharpness, etc etc etc.

anybody got any suggestions for settings to use to clean up VHS captures?

    thanks!

At work we played around with Cleaner 6. In the end we only ended up changing the Britness and Contrast.

Can't say Ive used it. Heard it wasnt the "best" program to use, especailly when there are others that do the same thing.

I reccomend HIGHER GAMMA (black level up) so you can see the footage better but not so much as to wash it out (usually up .2 or 2)
LESS CHROMA because VHS usually records too much chroma for this TV addict..What's worse, if you have a multigenerational tape, the color is smeared, so I would always reduce chroma (stauration down 10%)

Be careful with sharpen effects as the edges of things get shimmery with too much or sometimes any sharpening

Can someone help us with filters? are any good?

anyway if its really a tape problem, you'll need a Time Base Corrector (if the originals have HITS, GLITCHES-Dropouts or STRETCHING and EDGE DAMAGE..Cleaner can't clean that!!
