  1. I'm trying to use ffmpegx to convert the audio of an MPEG file.
I tried to use galatica's instructions from another thread

(Load ffmepg, select your .vob as the source file, save a location as xxx.mp2. Unclick encode video, and go to the audio tab, set it to mp2, 44khz and 128k/sec . I think you set the coded on the video tab to passthough or something like that (the one with ffmpeg at the end) click encode)

When I hit the encode button on ffmpegx, I get an error message from the Terminal that says:

    Welcome to Darwin!
    [h000242a44b60:~] dave% pbpaste | sh
sh: line 1: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `''
sh: line 2: syntax error: unexpected end of file
    [h000242a44b60:~] dave%

Can someone point me in the right direction?

BTW the MPEG2 file was created using ADS USB Instant DVD.
When demuxed using the bundled software (PixeDV) I get an .aif file and an m2v.

    Thanks for any info.

    Dave

PS I got the same error trying to encode the audio of a VOB file

I moved this to the ffmpegx forum, because major can help you more out with the "error message"

One thing you can try in the mean time is to just convert your .aiff to .mp2 using one of those apps that converts audio files
iTunes or mAC3dec 1.6 (i think that will work for this application)

  3. I'm still trying to make an SVCD from an MPEG2 file created with. ADS USB instant DVD box.
I demuxed using PixeDV, the hardware's bundled software.
I got an .aif and m2v file. After getting a Terminal error trying to remux with ffmpegx, I converted the .aif file to mp2, using SoundJam.
I then tried remuxing the m2v and mp2 using MissingMpegTools and got another error message.

This is do-able, right? I'm discouraged...
The Terminal won't let me do this....

Im no master at reading this unix reports but

"/Users/dave/Desktop/Day\ One/DVD\ source\ folder\ 1//movie-%d.mpg" looks a little strange to me. How many directories do you have this folder in man!

One thing that might help, have no spaces or illegal characters in the file name nor path to the files.

another thing, once you clear all the spaces if you have them, use FFMPEGX under TOOLS there will be two BROWSE links. Put video in the first, .mp2 in the second.

Set SVCD in the pulldown menu next to MUX and then push MUX
    this always works for me.

If it doesnt there could be an problem with either of your .m2v or .mp2 files.
post the terminal message in here when you do.
if i cant help you major should be able to

  5. No luck(

I moved the directory to the desktop and retitled the files to DAY.m2v and DAY.mp2...

  7. Remove those pesky special characters like " ' or ( • Ì [ from input / output file & pathanmes.
