Why does SVCD2DVDMPG+ simply hang up on about 50% of my SVCD movie files?
In the example below I have included two unaltered SVCD movie files downloaded from the Usenet. The first file is 795MB and is the first part of the movie. The second file is 793MB and is the second half of the SAME movie. One would think their format is identical in all respects.
However, as you can see by the log below, the first file processed normally with no errors. The second file (Movie-svcd2.mpg) processed normally until “Patching video stream sequence headers” and then just quit.
This happens with about 50% of my SVCD files. I have tried reprocessing failed files, but they always produce the same result.
A MOST gracious "Thank You" to anyone who can resolve this problem.
Best,
djmobius

This is embarrassing. The image contained the SVCD2DVDMPG+ settings.
They are:
Source and DVD Folders = D;\Start
Output Stream Type: Elementry Streams and Apply Pan & Scan Info checked
Horizontal Res Patch Value: 720 and Entire file checked
Audio Encoder: AC-3 checked

To answer you problem i would need to analyse the second mpeg. If you have decent bandwidth you can ftp it to me.... If not PM me.
(BTW: Edited you image post)SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

Some people are idiots when it comes to CREATING these files. The second MPG might have been split in a bad place.
CB is working hard to try to improve the intelligence of his routines, but is unfortunately at the whim of some external programs.
Maybe eventually we can find him distributable freeware that DOESN'T farque up on 50% of files.

I don't have an answer to the problem, but perhaps a clue to help solve it.
I also ran into a similar problem. SVCD2DVDMPG would hang at the patching stage. I was batch processing 12 files and it hung at the 2nd file. So, only 1 of 12 files was successfully patched! One thing I really despise about SVCD2DVDMPG is the fact that there is no way to do "just patching", or to "resume" a failed session. When something like this happens, you have to start again completely from the beginning -- which means re-encoding the audio for the remaining 10 files (which, for all I know are perfectly good). Okay, but this is really a separate issue...
What I noticed about the SVCD which caused the hang is that it was one that I extracted from an SVCD using the VCDEasy tool, Cdxa2mpeg. I re-extracted the same SVCD using ISOBuster, and the patching worked! From now on, I will just use ISOBuster, and hopefully never have this problem again. I don't know how you guys get your SVCD from the CD's, but there are many different methods. Whatever method you use, make sure to strip the cdxa headers....
