My PS2 is not moded and it plays +R, +RW, and -RW. I haven't tried -R yet.

I don't use it for watching DVDs because that PS2 fan noise drives me nuts, but I have tested discs on it and they seems to work fine. I don't think it likes mpg audio though.

Is it not reading your discs at all or do they lock up randomly?

if its a game use this method. get Record Now Max or nero, and make an image of your game. like insert your video game in a dvd-rom drive, and then in record now max close the wizard, and then to the left side you will see your drives. where ever you have your game do this right click and put build global image. then on the read rate put whatever speed you want, but i would prefer a slower speed. its not that slow anyways, but still. and then just burn the image.

  6. movies I use dvddecrypter and dvd2one. they work great in both the PS2 and home dvd player.

So the PS2 WILL play backed up movies. With my PnP no-solder modchip, I normally have to use Gameshark and the disc swapping method to boot cd backups. But I can't get my PS2 to boot DVD backups either this way or
just normal boot. If if try the swap disc method ,it doesn't do anything (jsut clicks). If I try to boot normally, I get the infamous red screen. I am going to try burning again with Recordnow DX and Verbatim DatalifePlus
    DVD-r.

  7. PS2's play movies on dvd-r disks fine without modchips. Check your brand of media and/or make sure the PS2 len's isn't dirty. Depending on how old your PS2 is it may have trouble recognizing some brands of dvd-r

  9. Just got a reply back from a modchip website that says I have to use
a "Swap Magic" disc to boot DVD backups with a no-solder modchip.
    Anyone heard of this?

It should work fine with all dvd-r backups except splinter cell pretty much
you have to use another boot disk called the cdloader in conjunction with it.

If you want to play dvd-rips (dvd games that have been downsmaple to fit onto cds) you also need this cdloader if your games are not already patched.

The no solders work but no swap is the way to go if you can do it.

If you need info on installers lemme know
