  1. I am trying to transfer a bunch of 8mm videos to DVD. I am using a Hauppauge PVR250 to capture. Every capture that I burn to DVD has problems with the audio sync'ing up with the video. I just got a dvd burner, but have captured and burned SVCDs to CD-R and never had a audio/video sync problem before. The DVD burner is a Pioneer DVR-105.

I am using Ulead DVD MovieFactory SE to burn with. I have menus on the DVD. I have played the resulting DVD on several different players including the DVD drive that made them and the problem is there on all of them. The MPEG file that was produced from the capture plays PERFECTLY from the hard drive, but its when I burn it to DVD that I have issues.

After reading thru a audio sync thread at SHS, I tried changing the output stream in the Hauppauge wintv2000 software to "program" from "dvd" and chaged the bitrate on audio to 224k. I have no idea what the difference is between program and DVD output streams as its not covered in the Hauppauge manual. I have downloaded and installed the latest Ulead patches....

Anyhow, if anyone has any tips or advice I would really appreciate it!

    Thanks

Have you tried the DVDs on another player, and have you tried another authoring program?
    Hello.

I tried the DVD on 4 different players, including the burner...same results. I dont have any other authoring programs at the moment, the Hauppauge is different in that it captures directly to a mpeg file, via hardware. But the resulting mpeg plays fine from the hard drive so I think that part is ok. Seems to be an authoring issue. I will see if I can get ahold of a different authoring program and see what I get with that.

Remember, TMPGEnc is an encoder. You need an authoring program, one that burns disks. For making my backups, I use Nero. For other DVD burning, I use Video Studio 6.

I get that sometimes when the authoring app uses MPEG caps from cheapo MPEG cap software (WinDVR et al), and the authoring app DEMUXES the stream before remuxing to VOB form. The demux/remux hurts the synch. So far, I haven't had time to figure it out. I jsut re-encode with TMPGenc, and then use it to cut. The cheapo MPEG cap software just sucks. PowerVCR II and one other do it too. Only software I find to NOT have this error is ATI MMC (but you need an ATI card).

As far as a fix, post one if you find one. I've not had time to look at it. I'm sure, given time, I'll figure it out.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  8. Thanks for the replies guys. I appreciate it. I actually downloaded the tmpgenc authoring software (I think its new?) to see if I had any better luck over Ulead DVD MF. I am experimenting with demux-ing the mpeg that I captured with my Win PVR-250 using tmpgenc, and then will try and use the raw audio and video files to author in the tmpgenc authoring software.......yea i know that probably seems like a lot of trouble but its worth a try. However, I am actually seriously considering going with a A-I-W 7500 because I don't want to deal with these types of headaches with software, it'll drive me nuts.

  9. I experimented last night with tmpGEnc and tmpGEnc DVD author. Success!

I first did a demultiplex of my captured file using tmpGEnc, which gave me a m2v video file and a mp2 audio file. I then imported that into tmpgEnc DVD author, made menus, chapters, etc and it then created the Video TS and Audio TS files. I burned those to disc with tmpGEnc DVD Author and viola! Perfect sync on the end product.

    thanks for the tips
