I have been getting this popup message in VCDEasy and it says:

"This MPEG file requires autopadding...you maybe unable to watch it correctly"

Got this yesterday when I went thru this exercise...and it means what it says...I cannot watch it correctly...in fact, I can't watch it at all...total garbage...

I created the MPEG-1 in TMPGEnc by multiplexing the audio and video...is there something I forgot to do to make it "AUTOPAD"???

I use VCD Easy also and have had this happen before. What it does in my case is add so many extra bytes to the file that sometimes it won't fit on one CD. Very annoying. I have not yet figured out what causes this or if there is a utility that will fix an mpg file that has this extra data in them..

  3. Back when I tried to do VBR VCDs I would get this message. I believe its trying to pad your low bit rate points on the mpeg. I think there's a low bit rate minimum on VCDs and its trying to bring the ones below upto minimum values.

    I Think, been many months

That message almost always means your MPEG is multiplexed incorrectly. If you're making a completely standards-compliant VCD, multiplex as VCD. If you're making an XVCD, multiplex as "non-standard" VCD. Do SVCD as SVCD. Never multiplex an MPEG for VCD/SVCD as straight MPEG1 or MPEG2.

  5. I started to experience the same problem when I didn't used to before when using VCDEasy. The solution I came up with is to encode in separate audio and video streams (multiplex afterward using the "non-stardard" vcd option which mine most always are in TMPGEnc) and also make sure you check the box that will add padding if the bitrate falls below the minimum when encoding VBR VCDs in TMPGEnc. This method has worked successfully for me with CBR VCDs also. I no longer get the "padding" message in VCDEasy.

You may also want to try running the complete mpeg through VCDGear using the "repair mpeg" option. Then, you will also not receive the "padding" message in VCDEasy. But, I cannot guarantee the vcd will play properly. Experiment a little with CDRWs first.

It most certainly is due to the fact that the mpeg is not multiplexed as VCD or VCD (Non-Standard).
I kept getting these messages once, and couldn't for the life of me understand why!
