Everyone says get a Panasonic because it has TBC (time base correction) so that's the way I'm going. The recorder goes for $700 at my local stores but I can get it here for $514 http://www.ibuyplasma.com/products/?PanasonicDMR-E80HS02378&com=4 . Anyone here have this recorder and if so are you happy with it? Thanks.............

The E-80 I think is the machine you will want. Here's one big reason why.
Correct me if I am wrong here, anyone, but you can dump video onto your E-80 hard drive, let's say from your camcorder, then make a playlist from this video (editing), then burn this directly to a DVD-R or a DVD-RAM.
Other things you can do..such as...record favorite shows to hard drive, make playlist, burn to DVD-Rs for archives.
The hard drive is the best feature Panasonic has implemented into the DMR series. Believe me, if you purchase a E-50 now, in a year you will be bummed you didn't get the E80.
It's worth the extra money now. -
i have a ? about this product that I havent been able to find the answer to yet, if you record a program on the best setting and it is larger than 4.7 gb's can you set the recorder to recorder the large file over multiple RAM disks....?
