I posted this question about a month ago and got a few replies, one of which "the functions are not supported on these players". I just want to be sure and double-check this with actual DV-343 owner before I invest major time encoding and burning.
Search, resume, and repeat A-B don't work on SVCD with my Pioneer DV-343, I do have FF and RW ok. I can't even press display to show tracks and time. These functions DO work ok on a VCD.
I'm using TMPGEnc12i to encode and Nero 5.5.4.0 to burn. Is it something in those programs or settings or am I just outa luck on a DV-343 as one person told me?
Thanks for the info!!

I can tell you that, for the Pioneer DV-333 and Pioneer DV-C603, the search-play-display-etc features DO WORK when playing a SVCD.

"resume" for for me. I meant to stop playing, turn OFF, turn back on and play, the DV-343 will resume playing from where I stop the SVCD.
Usually, I do not hit PLAY when inserting a VCD or SVCD disc in. I hit the number "1" key (or another numeric key to select the track to play) instead. This way, the track number and the time is displayed for either VCD or SVCD.
Try this little trick to see if it works for you.

Thanks both of you for the replies. I have been pressing "1" to access the track to be sure I'm not in PBC mode. When I press stop during a track, a SVCD will NOT resume at the stop point when play is pressed (also 343 display does not show "resume"
, it starts at the beginning of the track again. The 343 display does show the track and elapsed time. It seems to be tied in to timing or something because I can't search a track and go to a specific time and the a-b repeat doesn't work, another time related thing...? The frustrating thing is all of these DO work on a VCD, (I do have to be out of PBC even on a VCD for most of these functions to work).
Sorry, I guess I'm not saying much more than my first post. If other people that have DV-343 do get these functions to work on SVCD, I would like to figure out what is happening in my case. Any more comments, suggestions? On the bright side, the SVCDs look great, I was just hoping to be able to use the functions just like on a VCD. Thanks gang for any help! -
tvman,
Just load up the (S)VCD. And then press the Left Arrow Key (therefore selecting Track 1 on the (S)VCD).
