There was a version of TMPGEnc that had a bug which would create all mpeg1 encodes at standard settings, I think it was ver. 2.59

    What version do you have?

    Dude,
When i use TMPGenc, they all come out to a little over 800 meg for the first disk, 2 disks if it takes 3. It's not 800 meg of data files, so just burn 'em. They'll fit.
If you choose 70 minute CDs, 640 meg, they'll probably be 700 some megs, and still fit.

    No,
In data, with the file system, error checking, etc,you only get about 703 megs to an 80 min disk, add all the overheads to the actual data, and it would be 800 some, also. As I said, my conversions average 820 megs, no overburn.
    Just give it a try.
If you are using TMPGenc byitself, I don't remember if it says fit to X no of disks, DVD2SVCD does, and changes the bitrate to suit the size you choose. I think I have had some go as high as 848 megs per disk, and they burned fine.
Just try the burn. CD-Rs are cheap. Just hope the VCD-SVCDs work in your standalone, or you might think these guys are fulla crap. Does your machine play VCD-SVCD?

    Dude,
Burn one of the damn things and come back and tell us if it worked. Mine all work, and I have never set the burner to "Overburn", partly because disks are so cheap, partly because if I take a copy to my daughter's house to watch, I don't want to jeopardize their DVD player trying to read beyond the official parameters of the disk.
Besides which, if you have done more than 1 encode, and they ALL come up at 821 meg, or thereabouts, don't you think it knows something you don't? Trust me, it will work.
And, welcome to the club. Some things are mystifying, but learning about it is just so damn much fun.
    Have some fun.
Rip to your drive if you have the space, encode, and if it's not what you want, just do it again. You will get better. You'll be answering ?s before long, not just asking. It is NOT rocket science. The answers are all here.
