  1. I am looking for a high-end dvd player (between $500 and $1500) that can be made region free and can play DVD-R. I don't mind if it doesn't convert from PAL to NTSC or if it doesn't have progressive capabilities (my Panasonic Plasma Monitor displays better interlaced signals). I am considering the Denon 3800.

    Any suggestions?

all plasma monitors internally convert to progressive anyway ..

odd that interlaced looks better (maybe it does)

should be using component 3 wire

  3. Any suggestion on a particular model?
My experience has been that the most expensive and sophisticated dvd players have more problems playing cheap DVDRs.
