I am trying to burn a dvd in toast 6.0.3 and when i do so i get two files that come up- desktop db and desktop df. I was wondering if anyone knows the effect of these files, ie do they not allow the disc to play in my home dvd player. I know this is a common issue so i guess there must be a relatively simple solution.
    Thanks very much

those only show up when you are in DATA / Mac-PC etc mode

make sure you are using DVD-ROM (UDF) mode for video dvd's and you should see those files dont appear

if they do for you, think about upgrading your Toast Titanium or sometimes if you are doing multipile burns, they only show up on the 2nd and latter burns, so just quit and reopen toast between burns

Those files always appear for me, but they have yet to cause a problem.

I use Toast 6.0.3 on Data>DVD-ROM (UDF) setting. I drag-and-drop the folder into Toast and the files aren't there. When I click the button to record, they appear. I'm not able to delete them like I can with .DS_STORE, because they only appear *after* I begin burning. Even if I'm burning multiple copies of the DVD-R, they're always there. And, like I said, I've never had a problem playing a DVD-R I've created.

Edit: Nevermind what I said about DB files appearing on DVD-ROM (UDF) burns. I've been burning a lot of audio CDs lately and I must have gotten confused.
Droplets of yes and no in an ocean of maybe.

  4. The DF/DB files will appear in DVD-ROM format if you have any other data besides the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder. If a .DS_STORE file is present then the DF/DB files will also appear.

If you delete the .DS_STORE file, the DF/DB files will not be generated.

The files will not cause a problem. Having these files is no different then having a Jacket folder or other DVD-ROM data present. The DVD Player will just ignore it.
