ok i am a video-authoring newbie so forgive me if i'm way off on some things.
my source is a 512x288 DivX DVDRip at 25fps and i wanted to convert it to burn onto a VCD. i used TMPGEnc and converted to MPG 352x288 25fps. i burned with Nero. i did all the appropriate steps, but when i tried playing it in my NTSC Panasonic RV-31 it was fine until maybe the 10th minute where video and audio both started to get very blocky and soon was unplayable. the movie plays perfectly on the computer.
my question is could it have been because the film was in PAL 25fps? i looked in the manual for the DVD player and it said it couldn't handle PAL but it did play fine for the first 10 minutes. i understand that i can convert it to NTSC but i know that i've heard or seen somewhere that that's not a great idea.
another note: when i encoded and burned the VCD, i followed a guide that instructed me to check ghost reduction, noise reduction, sharpen edges, audio error protection, high quality motion search, and source range in the advanced tab of TMPGEnc when i encoded the MPG.
and one more question, for those of you who have tried VCDEasy, is it a better program than Nero? i'm thinking it's possible that my DVD player is very fickle with VCDs and i wonder if VCDEasy burns more compliant ones.
