  1. Hi

I have used DVD Xcopy to copy my DVD9. As you know Xcopy make 2 Disk and it is anonying. So I have decided to convert 2 Disk to One. My several original went corrupt so I have no choice but to convert 2 Disk to One. Is there any guide or tool available to convert 2 Disk to one? I have instant copy but I don't know how I can convert 2 Disk to One? I tried with DVD lab and have all kind of problems. First of it does not play all chapter with menu. if it does and if I make one Disk I have problem with Audio.

I saw severl guide on this site for DVD9 to DVD5 but there is none for such thing.

Please let me know if there is any thing available.

    Thanks in Advanced- B

  2. read Baldrick's article on "how to record dvd9 to dvd5". It is to simple not to do it right the first time. I like DVD decrypter better than smartripper. Much faster to use and easier. I haven't used dvdxcopy, but the way Baldrick's wrote hit "How To", you can't go wrong.

copy and paste only the main movie vobs to the harddrive in one folder

(name it after the movie) from both disc and rename them

    vts_01_1,vts_01_2,vts_01_3,vts_01_4,vts_01_5,vts_0 1_6,vts_01_7, etc.

use ifoedit to create ifo and get vts sectors

    then use your burning program

dvd shrink, instant copy, dvd2one, etc.

Why don't you get a 5 disc DVD player. PANASONIC just released a model that most places are selling for around $130

This is what I plan on buying soon so I can enjoy my 2 disc backups without needing to get up and flip and/or change discs.

Doing a one DVD backup will mean loss of quality. You already have it as two now so why bother making it one?

  7. This is how I do it.

1: Rip both sides with SmartRipper to a single folder (all the files in one folder). Since the main movie on the second side may have VOB files with the same file names as the first side you will first need to put these into another temp folder then re-name them starting where the first side left off then move the files into the combined folder.
2: Delete all the files in the folder except the main VOB files for both sides.
3: Rename all the VOB files in order starting with VTS_01_001 then VTS_01_002 an so on.
4: Use VOBEdit to "Join" the files.
5: Use IFOEdit on the joined files to "create new IFO's".
6: Use IFOEdit to "get VTS sectors" on the files created above.
7: Use DVD2one or DVDshrink to compress the files in step 6 to a VIDEO_TS folder (you create this) so they will fit on a single DVDR.
8: Test the resulting files with PowerDVD or WinDVD prior to burning.
9: Burn The VIDEO_TS folder to DVD.
    10: Enjoy.

SmartRipper, VOBEdit, and IFOEdit all all free so look in the tools section to get same. You can get some tips on using VOB and IFO edit here.

unless bob w way work with menus

u might want to give that part up

and just make the main movie

if u use neodvd plus u can make your own menu with the vobs

just make sure their are not multi angle dvds (if the discs are episodes disc , they are not multiangled) as they have way more video data than sound data and your a/v sync will be way off

Yeah if you want a menu then NeoDVD is an easy way to do that. Me I could care less about a menu, just another thing to click on.

  12. Bob W and vance43211,

I already have menu from the original DVD. I have menu on both Disk. This is a Song Competition so menu become important so I can watch the song I want. (There are about 35 songs in DVD).
My question is How do I include Menu file? I have menu and just need to be include in dvd so it can start playing from Menu. Can I include menu when I create ifo? I tried including menu in joining .VOB but does not work.- B

u are asking for a miracle

now u can add the song vob at the beginning or end of the movie

just name it correctly from earlier post with ifo edit

it will play before or after the movie

but there will be no menu

unless u use neodvd plus and add that song vob as a menu item
