  1. I have a bunch of DVD orders to fill in the next 2 days. What should be a good "pace" to put my burners through. This is the Deal:

    I have 30 DVD's to burn.
I have 1 computer with the A04 pioneer burner.
I also have another computer with the A05 pioneer burner.

I always burn at 1 speed with the A04, and 2 speed with the A05.

I use Verbatim Datatlife plus DVD-Rs.

Anyone know if there is any reason why I cannot burn back to back DVDs, till I am done.

    Thanks.

Burn as fast as the write strategies of the discs allow. 1x/2x/4x, whatever. Feed it discs until you're done. If you're worried about heat, stop for 30 minutes every 8 hours.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

i set the duplicator to burn 25 (uses pioneer 105 burner) one after the other. gets a little warm but no problems ..

why dont you put both burners in the same machine and burn 2 at once ? thus freeing up the other machine ..

If you have adequate cooling, and not running micro-cases then it's not really an issue. Personally I keep a cooler between my CDRW and DVD Drive....keeps them both room temp. Joys of full size towers!!!

  7. A few months ago I had to do a 300 DVD order for our local Army base, I used the Ritek G04's and burned continously for 21 hours non-stop. Luckly they were only about 4 minutes per burn though. I used a Pioneer 105.

  8. Thanks for the feedback.

My A05 is currently in a ADS firewire enclosure. I did not know it was possible to burn using 2 burners on the same machine at the same time.

I am reallly old school when it comes to burning.

This is my overprotected way of avoiding coasters, or "Weak Burns"

I first reboot system, then when XP pro starts, I shut down all background apps. Then I start burn software. I never Burn at full speed. I always choose the speed right below the fastest. So in my case A04 is always burning at 1x, and my A05 is always at 2x .

Once burn is complete, I eject DVD, shutdown ADS enclosure, and reboot machine, and do it all over again.

I always start a fresh burn this way everytime. I sometimes have the feeling that my turning the system on and off is actually causing more damage than if I left it on. Who knows whats the best way. It works for me. over 200 burns, and the only time I had a bad burn was when I tried to burn without doing my reset procedure.

    Thanks,
Now I am just waiting for this DVDR shipment to arrive, so I can start

  9. I actually have my burner hooked up to an older Pentium III 450 machine that only has Win Xp, DVD Decypter, DVDShrink, DVD2ONE and Nero on it. Nothing else. Works great and fast. Since my burner is a Lacie external I can use it on the laptop when I need via Firewire. (I use USB 2.0 on the desktop).

4 min per DVD. What a waste!

No wonder they spend $25,000 on a hammer.
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

  11. They weren't 4 minute DVD's that was how long it took for each of them to burn. I think the documentary was around 45 minutes.

  12. I think what Marco33 want to say is that some months ago with a 105 I guess the media was 2x so 30min per full DVD so 4min is like 1/7 the full space, so you wasted 6/7 the space in the DVD. That's all.

Doesn't matter how much the hammer cost, if it's in the hands of the Army it will be lost or stolen within the week. Air Force (retired Air Combat Controller ) "Bombs on Target or Money Back, No Questions Asked" :P

errrr I guess if that makes ya feel better but that sounds like insane over kill for newer gear.. I mean back with my first cd-r (x4 hp) I would sort of, kind of, maybe touch the cpu (PII400 with not much ram) and it would coster the disk. heh whoops.. so it was 20 min of no touch no nothing..

errrrr but that was with a slower cpu.. you have a 1.4 listed in your specs.. should be fine to just burn away..

For example.. I have a 2.2 and a gig of ram... I never turn the box off or really reboot sep maybe every few weeks, maybe.. 2 DVD burned last night were done after I ripped 2 DVD-r of data (jpg pictures etc) at the same time in ISO mode to make new copies ... all while d/l stuff off a news group and web jumping around.. then when it was done ripping I turned around and burned one of the disk in mid burn launched photoshop to do something.. Buffer never went below 50%.. No problems, then I burned the other one.. Heck the cpu never went over 40% use sep at the start of photoshop launching..

I can see maybe turning other stuff off but you should not need to reboot and so on.. I do wait if the disk i take out is hot, till the drive cool.. but that is just me.. 10min break or so every 2 disks..

Umm, why do you do that? Where did you get that from? Sorry, but it sounds a little crazy to me....

Set the number of copies in your burning software to 30, sit back and feed it disks. Use full speed! There is no reason what-so-ever to reboot between burns or to shut down other running apps. Geez I encode video while burning without problems. If you start getting hot, just open the case and point a small table top fan at the burner and let-er go!
