  1. Hi guys, total noob here would appreciate any help!

My computer: 17" PB w. SuperDrive
    My DVD player: Pioneer DV-333

I backed up a DVD using DVD backup, no prob. The files seemed to play fine in the Apple DVD player. I burn the disc in Toast, pop it into my living room player and it starts getting glitchy. After the FBI warning it doesn't auto load the menu. I hit MENU and it loads it fine. Some menu options won't accept my clicks (a particular chapter), so I select the chapter after it and use the chapter skip controls to go back to that one. The chapter is there after all...

So far, weird glitches but nothing that I can't live with...

But then I let this chapter play and I see huge ugly blocky decompression artifacts every few seconds. It looks like a cheap VCD! I load it back into my PowerBook and check it in Apple DVD, the menus works fine in that, but when I go to the scene with the blocky artifacts I see some nasty "interlace-y" looking artifacts. Like that area is a few fames out of synch on every other line...

Anybody ever see anything like this? Any ways to avoid it? Any help would be much appreciated!

  2. Well, never mind, and color me retarded!

It seems my player got confused. After putting the dic back in a second time it hung up mixing the FBI warning screen and the end credits on screen - but when I power cycled it played fine. No more blockies no more glitches...

My SVCD is still squat tho! :P
