I've got a question for anyone that can help me out.

I have a DVD-R that i KNOW has a read error on it. It freezes at a certain point in the movie and if i fast forward past it will continue on with the movie.

I want to make a copy of the DVD-R in question but I can't figure a way to do it. I've tried making a straight duplicate of the DVD-R to another DVD-R but it won't let me because of that read error.

Is there a way that I can rip the vob files and take out the bad sectors that are causing the error? Or Any other way that you can think of to get around it would be most appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Brougham

Is there a program out there where i could capture it frame by frame to even an mpeg and skip the bad frames?

    I could re-encode it to mpeg-2 then.

Any suggestions on a solution... anyone?

  4. DVD Decrypter is the best and only one to ignore those error. I did make copy of all error DVD without any problem. Here is the setting --- Check the FAST ERROR SKIP box, set the HARDWARE READ ERROR RETRIES to 0, set the SOFTWARE READ/WRITE ERROR RETRIES to 0, check the IGNORE READ ERRORS box.
It will save you time otherwise you have to wait for along time.

  6. @8dragon8, I hope you don't mind, I borrowed (and given you credit of course) what you said to the Troubleshooting section in the upcoming 2.3 guide

  7. Try getting a DVD "Disc Doctor" or other tool to remove the scratches on the bottom of your DVD. They sell on the Internet for less than $30. I was able to fix some scratched DVD's with it and it removed some errors.

Disc Doctor has saved me on alot of DVDs but your suggestion may not work with brougham's problem as I interpretted his first post...

...as a back-upped DVD instead of a commercial DVD. So if brougham backed it up with read errors, the Disk Doctor won't fix it.

But then again, I could be wrong in my assumption.
