  1. Hi, I was wondering if someone could tell me if they've ever had this problem using smartripper. I've ripped at least 10 of my other dvd's using smartripper then dvdx copy to encode and never had this problem until I tried ripping and encoding Devil's Advocate and Jason X. I'm finding parts of the movie missing. (i.e. the first 30 minutes of Devils Advocate and the last 10 minutes of Jason X). I'm wondering if this is a smartripper problem or a dvdx copy encoding issue? I only rip the movie files and not the menu and load the .ifo file in dvdx copy. Can anyone shed any light?

  2. I think DVD encrypter is better than smartripper. More user friendly

  3. Thanks Renegade6, I tried dvd encrypter earlier to see what happened and it did the same thing....so I guess there's a problem with dvdx copy, but not sure what I'm doing wrong.

  4. I encode with dvd2one. I bought the full version because the trial version only allowed for a total of 10minutes of encoding. The full version of dvd2one was about 45.00US. I am sure you can find free sfotware that will allow you to encode. Is dvdxcopy the full version or did you get download a trial version. It may only have allowed a certain amount of encode, that would be my guess though. Look around to see if you may find another solution to your problem

I am trying to backup to SVCD the DVD "Catch me if you can", Smart Ripper locks up on the fourth VOB and refuses to go further.

    Anybody else having this problem?.

Either just copy the trouble VOB to your hard drive and rip it from there or just select that VOB in SmartRipper and rip only it. Also the two times I had this problem when I took a really hard look at the original disc Icould see it had a fine scratch. Clean the disc good.

  8. I think it is a problem with Smart Ripper.

Most of the time Smart Ripper works fine for me... BUT I have ripped a few DVDs with Smart Ripper and when I tried to encode them with DVDx (for VCDs) parts of the movies were missing or in the wrong order (beginning of the movie placed at the end, chapters out of order, etc...). Jackass The Movie was a real MESS.

I know it was Smart Ripper causing the problem because I have successfully back up one of movies Smart Ripper couldn't handle by ripping with DVDShrink, encoding with DVDx and burning to VCD with Nero.
