  1. I made a backup about a month ago.
At the end of the burning it stopped with an error message.
I was gonna throw it out but I forgot.
I just gave it a try today.

And my $70 Lasonic 1100 standalone plays it
I love this player, the manual says it supports DVD and VCD(mpeg1) only but it plays SVCD, XVCD, XSVCD, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW(rom booktype).

    But check this out
The drive that I burnt with does not.
    Toshiba DVD-ROM does not.
RecordNow Max says the drive is not ready.
Rippers say the disc is not properly formatted.

    Never had anything like this.

I`m waiting for any of the wiseguys` explanations

  2. I have one, LUCK!

How did you burn it? did you decrypt it first? did you finalize the disc?
there is probably a million reasons why it works with your stand alone player and not your other drives or players. I burn on +R's and every player I play them on It works. I have not seen any movies I have made not work on any DVD drives or players. (knocks on wood)!

You didn`t get me. It`s not about the +R compatibility.

Something must have happend during finalizing so the burning stopped.
And the strange thing is that the standalone player rattles a bit when loads that disk but plays it perfectly.
But the burner and the other drive would not recognize it.

  4. I wasnt saying its +R compatability problem, I was just stating what I use.
have you tried making a copy of the backup that works? if it works then I dont know what is wrong.

  5. I have made another backup that works flawlessly.

It was just an interesting thing I haven`t heard about.
I`m still waiting for the smart ones to explain it

I have a possible solution maybe it is the same as your deal.

I burn a movie onto a Princo 2X (TDK-G by DVDinfo) with my Sony DRU-500A, the movie plays fine in my APEX, will not play in some other players, plays in my Pioneer DVD Rom drive in my computer, but will not play in the Sony that I burned it with!!! What is the deal there? That is called media incompatibility. How it the world it will burn to but not read the disc is beyond my comprehension.
