I have an ASF file which Tmpgenc refuses to load with the message: "can not open or unsupported." This file plays perfectly in WMP and I've been able to convert at least a dozen other ASF files in Tmpgenc without problem.
I've tried repairing it with ASFTools and ASFix, but still no go. Also tried re-encoding with ASFTools without success. Increasing Directshow priority in Tmpgenc doesn't work either. The only thing I have been able to do is convert it to AVI with Stoik, but I'd rather convert directly to mpeg-1 because even with optimum settings, the ASF loses some quality when converting to AVI first.
Anyhow, can any of the gurus out there suggest alternate methods?
Tx
