How to compress filesize

i caputured full movie of size 987 mb. Now i want to compress the filesize of the moive around 300-350mb.I know this will affect the quality but how can i do it please help

If this is for playing on a PC only then use a DivX codec with a low enough bitrate to achieve the filesize you want. Use vdub with the divx codec to encode the file. This will not play on a DVD player though. If you want to play on a DVD player you could use VCD or XVCD, the bitrate will depend on the length of the movie, this will look much worse than divx though with a filesize of 300MB
