    Hi.

I'm looking for dvd authoring software that will allow text menus but at the same time have the ability to have a motion background.

    Example:

Text Menu - Like in Sonic DVDit where you have the ability to link chapter points to text in the menu where the text acts as 'buttons' instead of using 'thumbnails'.

Motion Background - Like in Sonic MyDVD where you have the ability to have footage (video/audio) looping in the background of the main menu.

Does anybody know of software that can do both?

I've tried Ulead VS7, Sonic MyDVD, Sonic DVDit, DVD Complete, and Pinnacle 8. None of these had the ability to do both text menus and motion backgrounds.

In case you're wondering, I have seen this done. I have a DVDR I bought off ebay and it had this exact menu (1 screen, motion background, text menu with chapters). The seller no longer sells on ebay and unable to contact to ask what the software was.

Thanks in advance for your help,

This does not sound too difficult, actually. I used Ulead DVD Workshop, and it can definitely do what you are describing.

    Scheif,

Are you sure it has the ability to create motion background (video/audio) with text in the main menu linked to chapter points? I don't care for the 'thumbnails' or 'buttons' just simple text. The text should be modifiable (font & size).

What version of Ulead DVD Workshop do you recommend?

    Thanks for the response,

Yes, it can. I have used DVD Workshop 1.3 to do this before.

I have also done it with DVD Maestro.
Scenarist will also do it, of course.
The glass is neither half-full, nor half-empty.
It is simply twice as big as it needs to be.

  5. DVDLab will allow you to do it. Import a prepared clip and place it in the menu background. Use the text tool in the program or create text in a graphics and import it for your menu buttons.

And a thirty-day no-holds-barred trial to boot. It's listed in the Tools section [https://www.videohelp.com/tools?&orderby=Name#DVD%20Author]
