I'm looking for a set top DVD player that will play my DIVX movies that I burned to DVD-R. Does anyone have any info on where I can find one.

I have heard that there will be some DVIX DVD players that will be released at years end, but then I saw this on Ebay. It says it pays mpeg4 divx and xvid.

    I'm a bit confused.
You said that you burned them to DVD-R ??
So , why do you need a DIVX player?
I could'nt access your link but are you referring to the Kiss DP-450

These are just raw divx and xvid .avi files. They are not converted over to mpeg2. I burned them using data mode in nero. This way you can fit 5 or 6 full Divx movies (avi) on to 1 DVD and the quality is very good.

With a set top DIVX DVD player, you could watch these raw DIVX movie files on your TV just like you can on your computer without going through the hassle of converting to mpeg2. Plus, when you convert to mpeg from DIVX, you can only fit one movie per DVD.

  4. i have this player, its based on the same hardware as the kiss player. there are already a few players out from different brands, all based on the same sigma designs chipset.
no divx3.11 support until know, but the next firmware update should solve this (but i want to see this before i believe)
    until now:
    DivX 5.05:
    -quarter pixel not supported
    -gmc works
    -bidirectional encoding works

    XVid:
    -qpel not supported
    -gmc not supported
-bframes set to 1 works, higher value not

plays also avis with ac3 + more than one audio tracks

  5. a ps2 with a modchip in it can play divx/xvid using the ps2reality media player software.. its actually really good.. supports ac3 audio and i *think* all flavors of divx.

Yeah, I gotta get one of these! I have tons of Dvix and Xvid movies and don't feel like converting them all to mpeg2. Plus, the conversions don't always look as good as the original files.

This one on Ebay looks cool, but it dosnt say anything about international shipping. I'm in the US of A, and it's being sold in Brit land.
