My brother gave me a home movie he copied from an old videotape, to a DVD. Because I have an All in Wonder Radeon 9700pro, he asked me if I could clean the video, and re-burn it onto another DVD. I want to use the Videosoap filters, built into ATI's hardware/software, but the only way I can see to use this, is to connect an external DVD player, and capture the video, through the S-VHS port.
Anyone know of a way to get ATI's video capture program to capture video from a computer's DVD drive?
P.S. I have contacted ATI's tech support, and they recommended reading the manual for their MUltimedia Center. It mentioned the Videosoap filters, but did nothing to describe the availible filters (nor their functions), let alone how to make use of them.![]()

You'll probably want to rip the files off the DVD and convert them, clean them and re-author.
Check out guides listed on the left of this site for some helpful instruction on how to do this. -
Believe it or not, the 'old video tape' is probably a better source than the DVD, not only because you can connect a svhs to your card, but it is not a compressed copy of an 'old video tape'.
I don't have an AIT card, but I doubt you can process a file directly on your computer.
So, I believe you have 3 options. 1) get the tape 2) Capture the DVD thru the card 3) Use another program to copy and process the DVD files
I'm guessing that #1 would give you the best quality for the least effort. If you did #3 you would learn a bunch.
