After much assistance from guys here and at doom9, I have found a way to write +R and +RW. The preferred method of burning is to do it as an image file. (This despite an official e-mail from Pioneer that denies any support for "+" format).
If your movie file is less than 4.3GB, just do a ISO Read in / Write out from DVD Decrypter - perfect 16:9 formatting, 5.1 Bitstream intact on both R2 and R1 source material for me. I've done three so far and all play perfectly.
Over 4.3GB, use ifoedit to strip unwanted, then reburn to image file, write via DVD Decrypter. It seems that Nero authored discs (even when writing an image file rather than the VIDEO_TS file structure) fail consistently on the DV350. Latest gen Pioneers appear not to like Nero authored "+" media.

Old news to you all I guess but thanks anyway to all who helped.

  2. My 350 wont play Nero burnt discs if I use a manually built 'data' dvd structure with VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS folders that I created but it WILL play if I used the wizard and opt to create a DVD-VIDEO

    Odd but true..

  3. I personally Stomp RecordNow Max to Nero, since Nero discs don't play in all home DVD players capable of playing recordable DVD media, while Stomp discs do.
