    has anyone used this windvd recorder for capturing and if so how would you rate it

    I've only used it for playing VCD's and other video files. For those it works great! It takes a bit to load but afterwards it's fine.

    For my captures from cable TV I use WinDVD DVR. You can't get avi formats BUT the range of mpg's you get with it is large.
