  1. Do these cartridge discs just slot in without any problems? The drawer looks like it only accommodates a disc - not a cartridge and yet the manual indicates cartridges will go in fine.

Also, is it possible to buy cartidges on their own to protect the disc? I have small children and this sounds ideal.

  2. Yes they are easy to put in the tray. Its a good idea to get the cartidges
as it will add years of life to the media. Buying the cartridges is not easy and the cost about $2.00 a piece. Its cheaper to buy the media with a removable cartridge if you can find a company shipping internationally.

  3. Thanks for that.

One last question - with a 9.4gig disc do I have to remove it from the cartridge and flip it over and then put it back in the cartridge to play the other side or does the entire cartridge just have to be flipped upside down?

  4. No..u just flip the cartridge over. I only remove mine when i stick em in my PC DVD-Ram drive (which is non-cartridge only)

How does it add years of life to the media? As long as you are careful with the discs, it seems that the difference would be negligible. Just curious.

Also, make sure your cartridges are the removeable kind. That way you can use them in the Panasonic DVD-Ram players, too (which do not accommodate cartridges).

  6. I think its just coz RAM discs are more picky to dust n scatches thats why keeping in a cartridge is preferable.

Also i dont think mine said 'removable' but id just break of a lil plastic tab n then they hinge open n you can take em out (these were official Panasonic ones)

If all your kids are that careful with your ram media more power to you. I have 10 disks in cartridges that have lasted me about 20 months. The several of the media without cartridges have developed problems. The data is viewable, but the recorder treats the media as protected and won't allow me to unprotect it.
