i'm thinking of purchasing a Panasonic DMR-EX85, mainly to transfer old VHS tapes to DVD. i have many NTSC VHS tapes & with my samsung multi-region player i can play them out as NTSC without any pseudo-standard conversion. with this unit connected to the EX85, can i record the NTSC on the hard drive and from there make an NTSC DVD ?
thanks.

for anyone else who may be interested in this issue ...
i now have this machine and confirm that it is relatively straightforward to switch between PAL / NTSC standard and to record either PAL or NTSC onto the HDD or onto DVD. (of course it's not possible to use this machine to transfer across standards.)
it's fine to have both PAL and NTSC programmes on the HDD at the same time (though you have to cycle through menus to change the standard if you want to watch something).
