"FireWire 800 will revolutionize the way consumers transfer digital information, most likely replacing IDE and SCSI in the years to come"

Would the 800 firewire cards actually allow you to download DV faster than realtime? or does it stay the same!. If it stays the same, the 400 card I have does the job fine.

    VERY MISLEADING.

For storage applications, bandwidth utilization may show measurable results, but for video capture ? NOT. What is going to make your camera deliver the data at a faster speed ? Nothing. So the article saying that DV capture can be done in half the time is misleading.

As in digital SDI video transfer - there will be double speed DV transfer ... since its a digital transfer , it doesnt need to go in real time .. the limiting factor really is how fast can it read off the tape reliably ..

Not likely because Firewire 800 has the same bus speed as ATA100(100MBps),ATA133 is faster(133MBps).
