  1. I used the DVDinfo proggie and found using firmware 1.A0. I cannot find the drivers. Windows XP detects the drive upon install, however, it only detects it and installs as a normal DVD drive. So I can watch movies, but not burn anything with it.

I checked all three CDs and found no drivers. no drivers on cendyne.com, b/c the last model they have listed in 209, whereas the model number on this ends with 225. Also, none found on NEC.

I simply need to know where I can find these drivers. Took me long enough to find out it wasn't a verbatim or pioneer like the previous versions that were Cendyne.

It was also the ones on sale last sunday at most Staples. Hope that is more than enough info. KTNX

You say it is a NEC NC-1100A but I thought it was an ND-1100A ? If so, then this is the firmware for it.

As to burning and recognizing, what are you using to burn ? If it is a Roxio Easy CD product, then GET RID OF IT>

Use this, FORCEASPI to correctly set and build your ASPI layer

Then use something like NERO to burn. In many cases, DVD burners will only show in Windows Device Manager as a DVD-ROM drive.

To see what it can do(or what your system thinks) use Nero's INFOTOOL
    to check the capabilities
    Find it here

Probably do this last one first

arcorob: do you know what issues are addressed by the new firmware update?

Yes. supposedly, the drive had difficulty writing DVD+RW media but worked fine with DVD+R.

The Dell users screamed until a fix was obtained.

  7. I bought this burner and it came in a Cendyne package... thus it's not the Dell OEM version of the drive, but is it safe to update to the Dell firmware? If it makes any difference, my computer is a Dell Dimension 4100.
