    try this:

    -click 'OPTIONS' on the top
    -choose 'ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS'
    -choose the'VFAPI PLUG-INS' top tab
-right click the 'DIRECTSHOW MULTIMEDIA FILE READER' and then higher the priority to 1 or 2

  3. I also have this problem.
When I try to encode any file in TMPGEN that has the AC3 audio format then I end up with no sound. When encoding files with the MP3 audio format however it works fine. I have tried following the guide " Convert A DivX with AC3 To VCD" but this doesnt work for me. Ive also tried the reply by " honorarybrutha" but again no joy.
I have the AC3 codec installed so these files work fine through windows media player, but I really want to make them into VCDs. Can anyone help? Please?
    Thanks

Goldwave is great for creating a wav file from any .avi file, no matter the audio format. Just load in the avi then save. Use the resulting wav file as the audio source for your encoder.

  5. Since I posted my problem I have tried again to encode the ac3 audio file and end up with sound. And this time it worked. I found that using a combination of both the "Convert A DivX with AC3 To VCD" guide and "honorarybrutha's" last post did indeed work.
One other thing bugging me is the poor quality (jerkyness) with the video after encoding. Is there any settings within TMPGEN that improve this?
    Thanks.

More than likely a problem with frame rate.
What frame rate is the original AVI? (Use file information in Virtualdub to check.)
Which template did you use in TMPGEnc for your encoding, Pal, NTSC or NTSC Film?
