I don't have a good link for you, but if you go check your library or used book store, you can find "Digital Video for Dummies", it's based around Adobe Premiere and After Effects, so it includes trial versions and tuturials that assume you don't know anything.
It was pretty good for $20 when I got it, and it would be even better now for $7 or so that I've seen it in my local used book store....- housepig
