As I'me too mean to pay an extra £5 a month in rental for another cable set-top box from NTL, I was thinking of capturing from the existing set-top box using a Canopus ADVC-100 and a 10m firewire cable like so :
[set-top--->SCART-audio/video in--->ADVC-100--->firewire--->PC]
Does anyone have any experience of using 10m cables? What's the quality like?

People have used Firewire cables up to 30M
The 4.5m lenght limit is to maintain the maximum 400Mb/s speed. Even camcorders when transfering DV use only 100Mb/s

30m??? Wow - that's impressive. The largest I could find was 10m - and they were hard to come by.
Thanks for the info.Regards,

Got mine on Friday from http://www.shop21.uk.com/ - works like a charm.
