Hi,
I'm looking to build a PVR with a DVD Player / Burner in it. What I am looking for is a good graphics card that will display & capture S-Video quality (or similar) + Dolby Prologic (minimum req. preferably Dolby Digital). My intention is to play DVDs from the DVD-ROM but capture TV progs onto Hard Disc at MPEG2 or MPEG4/DivX and later convert to DVD if necessary. From what I have read (limited) the ATI All-In-Wonder looks good.
For software 'Showshifter' looks the business - runs the PC like a (video) jukebox if necessary (MPEG2, DivX, WMA, MP3, etc.).
For burning hardware I am interested in the HD-BURN capability from Sanyo (see my post elsewhere) that puts 1.4Gb on a 700Mb CDR/RW - which is way cheaper to record than DVD.
Thanks in advance,
J

Good luck with 700MB to 1.4GB I for one don't belive it work.
One thing sure you going capture Dolby Prologic nor Dolby Digital.
As for MPEG1/2, DivX3/4/5, MP3 the REALmagic Xcard can do this
I use WinTV-PVR 250 for encoding with SageTV
