  1. Hey everyone, quick question.

I have an All in Wonder 9000 Pro and I have a problem (well, more of a question I guess).

I have both my cable line hooked into the card, as well as my VCR through the composite cables. I have cable hooked up to my VCR so I can get cable either through the line-in cable or through the VCR.

The picture from the VCR seems a bit clearer, but the bigger problem is, the audio is much much better. It's louder, in stereo, and clearer than through the cable line. Any idea why this is? I really like using the cable line into the card so I can use the Guide Plus to record shows, but using the composite cables, I'm getting much better audio quality and a better picture slightly which makes my captures of a better quality.

Anybody else have similar problems? What did you do?

    Thanks a lot!

    Hello

The problem is that the tuner built into the ATI card is not as good as the tuner built into your VCR. For this reason many people use a VCR as a tuner since the tuners built-into video cards (even dedicated TV tuner cards) are generally not as good as that built into a VCR.

However the ATI website says it has a stereo tuner so you should still be getting stereo sound even if it, along with the picture, are of lesser quality than that provided by the VCR.

I doubt there is much you can do to make the ATI built in tuner do a better job otherthan maybe trying a amp booster before the split. You can try inputing the cable directly into the ATI (without splitting it first) and if you get better quality that way then a booster should help. If you don't then you are stuck using your VCR or perhaps another cable box (since just about all cable boxes take in the coax cable and offer standard A/V outputs ala a VCR).

This card is fairly new ... I don't have it and haven't read much about it ... but as I said it is a common problem you are having ... that is that built in tuners are often of poor quality.
