Help me make up my mind please!

Do I try and save a few bucks and get the NEC ND1100A bare drive for 147.00 or do I spend a little more and get the Pioneer 105 drive fore 176.00

I have the Cendyne right now which is essentially the NEC 1100A and it works fine...but I see that DVD-R media is a litte cheaper and the other Cendyne I had, which was a Pio 105, worked flawlessly.

It all comes down to either saving about 30.00 buying the NEC which has worked well for me so far...or spending the extra 30 on a better name brand that is highly reccommended.

Waiting for the A06 drive isn't an option..dont feel like spending 300.00 on a burner.

I vote for the Pioneer. I have an A04 and I love it.

Love the 105. One of the most popular and reliable drives available, and by far the best for the money. By the way, where did you find it for $176?

I have had the Pioneer since November and have had no problems with the drive. With the newest firmware, I get 2x burns on all DVD-media that I burn, I haven't tried any 4x media still too expensive plus I still have over 200 blank 2x dvd-r's. Rip speed is also good. Most Movies take less than 15-20 minutes to rip.

Aaron...over at avlogic.com they have the bare drive...no manual or software for 176.00 plus shipping...like 11.00 for me.

Bodyslide....what you mean by with firmware you get 2x burns on all dvd media? Aren't you suppose to if you use 2x media? Still a newb to dvd burning realm.

Any suggestion on good bulk pricing on 2x dvd-r's for the Pio?

I have some 1X media that the new firmware will write at 2X on. It takes around 25 mins to burn a full dvd. Sorry for any confusion.

Although the Ritek G03s have gone up in price, I still swear by them for the 105. I have yet to make a coaster with them.
