  1. I've read the guide on how to convert .avi files to .mpg with TMPEnc, so that I can burn them on a DVD, but the thing is, that when TMP is done encoding, and I watch the movie, it's small.
The original movie in this case is a widescreen movie, but when its done converting, the movie is just a small square in the middle of my screen.
I've tried with the diffirent options where you can choose Full Screen (keep aspect ratio) but it allways ends up like this.
Is it supposed to be like this? Will it look fine on a standalone DVD player?

It should look fine on a standalone DVD player, but what program are you using to play your MPG file?

  4. Oh, and another Q.. If i have one movie thats divided into two parts. Should I "stick" them together before I start encoding (if so, how?), or is it just as easy to just burn them together? Will the final result be good enough?

  5. You can't burn them together.
All you need to do is create your two MPEG2 streams from TMPGenc. Then open TMPGenc and go to FILE > MPEG TOOLS. You'll find an option to Merge & Cut.
Click on this ... select MPEG-2 program (VBR) .... click ADD and choose your two files in the correct order.
Then simply give it a new filename in the OUTPUT field (with a .MPG extension) and hit RUN.
Your two files will now be joined as one big new file.

With regards to the movie playing in a small box, this sounds like you've either encoded it wrong or you havn't selected full-screen in Windows Media Player. Can you confirm this?

  6. When I select Full Screen in Media Player, I get a small square in the middle of my screen, with thick borders on all 4 sides..

  7. Download BSplayer and try using it instead.
If this works ok then you know it's a setting in Windows Media player and not your file thats wrong.
If on the other hand you still get a small image in BSplayer, then I would suspect that you need to re-encode.
Let us know how you get on.

  8. Yep, I downloaded BSplayer, and then everything worked out just fine.
    Thanks for the help!

  9. One thing though.. I converted file #2 as well, and that worked just as it should, but when I try merging them in TMPEnc, it says that file #2 is not compatible with file #1.
    Have I done anything wrong?

  10. No one who can help me with this?

  11. You probably changed one or more factors when you encoded with TMPGEnc. Check to see if the resolution is the same, and you cannot mix bit rates such as VBR & CBR.

If one factor is different, just re-encode to the same as the other file.

Audio formats must be the same as well.

You can get around this if you use TMPGEnc Authoring program and make each file a separate chapter.
