  1. I am trying and trying to find out how to capture NTSC VHS tapes, I already asked for the advice, but it looks nobody knows.

    The problem is.

I have capture card which can work with PA and NTSC signal, I have my Hi8 NTSC video camera. All my Hi8 tapes are in color via my capture card and I can capture the video from the on my hdd. My TV is a multi sistem and reproduction of those Hi8 NTSC on my TV are color and OK.

Then I have VHS tapes on that tapes are videos from hi8NTSC from USA, (from Hi8NTSC camera-recorded to VHS NTSC.

I have NTSC VCR. I conect VCR to my TV and the picture is color, I conect VCR to my capture card, and the picreu is black/white. This is second tape I tryed.

    Please help

As I understand what you have said with the NTSC VHS VCR connected to the capture card you get no color however with the Hi8 connected you get color on the same capture card. Connect a cable or antenna to the NTSC VHS VCR and attempt tp capture the signal from the vcr's tuner - not a VHS tape. If you get color from the tuner signal then I think you have a macrovision/AGC problem and will need a TBC or copy master device unless your capture card can be macro defeated via software patch (some ATI cards). Just a thought.

    EDIT found this later:http://66.40.78.100/Services/TECH_Notes/nineteen.html

    2. I have heard that 8mm video is not affected by it. Is this true? 8mm video is not affected by Macrovision, because it is totally separate from VHS. There is no need to have AGC circuits that bear any resemblance to JVC ones.

Of course, 8mm recorders do not remove the protection, so any subsequent VHS dub will again be unwatchable.

No color means your capture card is in the wrong mode. It could be macrovision.....but I think it's PAL/NTSC issue.

Playing NTSC on a PAL system(or was the PAL on a NTSC :P ) results in no color (the color subcarrier is in a different spot, among other things). You need to flip the mode your capture card is in and you should be able to capture fine. Generally speaking the drivers support one or the other, but not both (go figure, it's just a setting). You can get PAL resolution, but not the framerate (at least in my case, but it's all software).
