  1. V-dub 1.3 does not work for me, even though it is supposed to be asf compatible. Is there a trick? I've tried at least a dozen programs but have had no success. Anyone actually done this conversion?

  2. Couldn't you just open the asf directly into TMPG? I have this ability when I browse for the video source (inside Files of Type box). Asf is one of the supported files types on my version of TMPGEnc.
    Happy to be here.

Yeah, my version also allows me to choose asf files in that "Files of Type" window but the program errors and closes as soon as I attempt to open it. I have the proper codecs installed and have read the helpful stuff in the how to guides.

    Yes. TMPGEnc Plus.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

Try ASFTools, its freeware, not very pretty to look at, but does exactly what it says it will do

Snag is, as you specifically wanted ASF to MPEG, it only convert to AVI, but it can convert ASF, WMV and MOV

  7. Well, thank you. That gave me a litlte hope but still no success. Asftools apparently converted the asf file to avi but....tmpec still errors and closes when I attempt to open this newly converted avi file. My next step is to get tmpec plus and see if that will be the difference maker. Asf format must be the scourge of the video world
