Help ref. converting single files to disc required please

Hi all,

Im back again. Ok, i have at last made vcds from dvds. I have been looking through the guides etc but need to ask you all a few things,

1. I have some episode files on my PC. Im not sure about the technical names but the icon is of the windows media player. What i am trying to do is burn that episode onto a disc for use in a dvd player using Nero. This works great for the files that have 'Windows media audio/video file' in the properties when you right click but the ones that just say video file will not transfer to the left hand side of the screen. It just says unsupported file format. Any ideas?
