  1. Hello,
    I would like to produce a video directly to VHS. I do not own a video card that has S-Video or even regular video in or out. Instead, I use my DV camera to digitize from VHS and record to VHS from the computer. The problem I have is that all the software I own forces my DV camera into "record" mode before sending video to the camera. I really don't want to record to my DV tape while transferring to VHS. Does anyone know of any free or open source software for Windows that would allow me to output DV to my camera without forcing it into record mode? I know some of the expensive software can do this, but all I have is what came with the camera (MGI VideoWave). I use XP, and also tried Microsoft's free video application, but it also forces the camera to record.
    If you can't tell, I don't have any money to spend on this, so if the solution is "buy something", then I'm outa luck.
    The path my video takes is:
    DV .avi file -> MGI VideoWave -> FireWire (1394) -> Sony TRV720 -> S-Video out -> S-Video in on VCR.

    Thanks!

  2. I have done this occasionally. After editing the home video, I sent it thru DVcam -> VCR to record on VHS tapes, directly from the PC without having to record on DV first. For Sony Dig8, I have to turn OFF the DV OUT parameter (via menu).
    The software that allows this is Pinnacle Studio, make sure check off the box "send command to DV camcorder" (something like that).
    You can also try not to put a DV tape in the DVcam and see what happen.

    Hi,

    I have a Dazzle Hollywood Bridge that acts very similarly to a camera.

    I use Scenalyzer to capture and output to/from the Dazzle and am experimenting with iuVCR right now.

    Try the Scenalyzer or iuVCR demo. Both are in the software section in the lefthand column of this screen.
