Hey, I am a writer working on a story about guys that bootleg movies from the theater and then sell them as bootleg DVDs. Can anyone here tell me:

    1. Is there a type of personal DVD camera that would be able to record a movie and automatically place it on a DVD?

    2. Which camera would work best for the purpose of recording movies out of a movie theater? (something small, high quality, and will allow for some editing to be done fairly easily)

Thanks in advance. I appreciate it. If you want to reach me personally, you can do so via my email.

Nobody does that kind of stupid crap anymore. The movie industry itself
and it's policy of sending out pre-screening DVD's is the source of 99%
    of bootlegged stuff floating around.

yep...some new cams allow you to pop a DVD in and record direct to disk

I can just see me walking into some flick with my tripod, gearbag, and cam Jerry Lewis style..ha ha

Speaking of tripods, how do they manage those?

  5. They may just set the cameras on the arm of the seat. That would be my method if I was doing it. Or maybe use one of those small table top tripods in the cupholder.

probably the best way would be to get one of those blow-up love dolls. put a wig on it and your arm around it with the camera concealed in it's mouth...

No, it's easier than that -- you get a blow-up doll for the theater manager and then he gives you permission to put your camera and tripod in the back row! Always works for me!

I'm sure the projectionist can video the film anytime they want...perhaps even during it's first showing
Places like the Phillippines, Malaysia, and southeast asia are the worst at this bootlegging...and of course China
Back row? You may get some heads like MST3000...
