  1. Hi guys,

I am trying to put a whole bunch of MPEG tv eps onto dvdr for convenience. But it's driving me mad !
Some of them keep getting out of sync.

I have been following the guide (https://www.videohelp.com/vcddvdr.htm) to a T, but Movie Factory spends hours converting video aswell, and it goes out of sync.
What settings should i use when importing MPEG-1 with 44kHz audio ?

As per the guide, I add the originals (NTSC 352x240 29.97 f/s), and then select NTSC as my tv system under Preferences.
Under Project Settings, I select Do Not Convert Compliant MPEGS.
Under MPEG Settings, I choose Customize - 352x240, MPEG Audio 48kHz, Variable video data rate@8000

And the damn thing STILL sties to convert the video !
    Whats going wrong ??

I have also tried using SVCD2DVD which demuxes and converts audio then muxes file. (using Program Stream for MF2) But get out of sync problems here too.
Also tried manually demux, convert, and mux using TMPGenc (ssrc).

This is all driving me mad. Should i just give up on Movie Factory? But it seems so easy to use. And i actually like using the menu templates it has.

Any ideas guys? Willing to try it all again.

  2. did you convert it with TMPGEnc first? if not , then do that and under you mf2 template settings choose the same video bittrate setings that you selected under tmpgenc. this should solve your problems.

  3. The VideoCD template calls for 1150 kbps as the video data rate.

I wonder if your MPEGs are truly compliant.

Have you right-mouse-clicked on those files and confirmed their properties?

  4. Hi Specialist,

The originals do have a video data rate of 1150kbps. They have all been fine when played on VCD
Right Clicking "Mpeg Info" gives the following ..

    Mpeg 1 System File (Video/Audio)
    Muxrate : 1.41 Mbps
    Estimated Duration: 44.05.07s
    Size [352x240] 29.97 fps 1.15Mbps
    Audio: Mpeg 1 Layer 2
    224 kbps 44100Hz
    Stereo: no emphasis

MF2 sticks in a default variable data rate max of 8000kbps. Should i lower this to 1150 ?

D-ran ... what should i convert in TMPGenc first? Please explain further.

    Cheers

  5. well I have MF2, MF1 is junk get rid of it, next, I took a VCD 352x240, audio 44,100 224, stereo and set the custom up in MF2 as 720x480, 6000 bitrate, 48,000 384 stereo and it only reconverted the audio and left the video alone, burned it on a DVDR plays perfect in any DVD player I have tried it on, it burned it as 2.0gigs at 2hrs 59min. of VCD material. Sync was perfect, also did the same with SVCD material but it had to convert that over since 480x480 is not DVD compliant, make sure you take your .dat files from your VCD's and remux them in TMPGE 1st so it will write the correct headers.

  6. THX,

I will try your settings now, but do u set the data rate as Constant or Variable ?

Also, what do u mean by remux the vcd's in tmpgenc to correct the headers ?
I thought u only had to do that with SVCD's.

These are actual MPEG files im using. I burnt them all as vcd, but i also kept the original mpegs as backup. And now my hard drives are full - hence i want to burn them onto dvd for convenience.

    THX,
I too have MF2 but cannot seem to be able to create any custom VCD settings. I seem to stuck with the defaults that came with the program. Can you please list the steps that you use to create your custom VCD settings.

    Thanks,
    Ed

  8. >custom VCD settings

The customize option only appears when you enter the DVD MovieFactory 2 program with the DVD or SVCD box checked.

The customize option does not appear when you select the VCD option.

    Jerry,
Thanks for the FIRST positive response to my many queries regarding MF2. Even UL could not or would not answer. What a joke for technical support.
So let me say it in other words. MF2 does not allow one to create XVCD parameter but is ok with altering SVCD to XSVCD.

  10. Thanks, ED.

Actually, the ability to customize SVCD is also limited to an extent.

You can't change the 480 x 480 parameter, for example.

But the customize menu does let you change the bitrate from constant to variable and you can also adjust the audio bitrate.

The customization options widen when you move up to DVD disc authoring.

  12. LOOK PEOPLE . I'm telling you ALL. So listen carfully.go get TMPGEnc from the tools section. it convert everythig into everything with all the options you need to do anything. it can take a long time but produces exelent results. it converts downloaded divx, xvid, and avi's into dvd, vcd and svcd as well. do this now and your woes will be over. yust remember to setup a template under mf2 options that has the exact same bitrate that you used to convert the movie and use the template and mf2 wont reencode it, but will move right on to audio/video multiplexing and burning. ok. GOT THAT PEOPLE.TMPGEnc. go now.

You don't need any custom settings.....

    My 2 cents worth:

    http://www.svcd2dvdmpg.com/SVCD2DVDMPG/Guides/DVDMF2/default.aspx

(just ignore references to patching files as it in not required with vcds)

However - because MF2 produces a single title set - if your vcd movies differ in bitrate you will have sync problems....
