I've been copying movies with "dvddecrypter-dvd2one-nero", and I can play the movie in my old pioneer 505 but it doesn't work in my sony playstation 2. I've tested 3 movies. What is the problem? Shouldn't it work?? I'm using VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS in nero. Do I need mod-chip to play copied movies too? The disk are DVD-R eProformance.

I dont think the type of disks is the problem,I use nero and get mine to play on ps2's using the following method :>

HOW TO BURN A MORE COMPATIBLE DVD WITH NERO (DVD-ROM UDF/ISO)

    1.open nero and close wizard
    2.in new compilation choose DVD(obvious),dvd-rom(udf/iso)
3.under iso tab choose only iso level1 and iso9660 (tick these boxes, leave others blank)
4.under udf tab tick the force compatibility mode box and this greys out the physical
    partition portion(this is ok)
5.hit the new button at the left hand side and drag and drop your VIDEO_TS and
AUDIO_TS(empty folder) to your new compilation
6.hit the burn button and when the dialogue box appears(to set write speed etc) hit write.
7.YOU should now have a disk that should play on your set top dvd player.
WHEN I DO THIS I CAN GET THE DISKS I DO TO PLAY ON MANY SET TOP BOXES AND **PS2'S**.
THE ONLY TIME I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED PROBS IS WITH PLAYERS THAT AREN'T MULTI-REGION.
I also use the latest version of nero when available.

    Hope this might help

  3. it could quite possibly be the type of disc, when you put it in dvd decrypter and look at the copied disc, what does it say regarding the disc surface, IE Ritek, MXL etc ,

look at www.blankdiscshop.co.uk and look through the dvdr's , it tells you there which are compatible with PS 2 and no it doesn't need chipping to play dvdr's.

    @handyguy

I use the method I sent previously.I use 59p -R disks(1x) which I can burn at 2x due to hacked firmware.ALL the playstations I have tried to play my disks on played absolutely fine AND they weren't Chipped so they don't need to be chipped to play movies, they do however have to be chipped to play copied games but thats a different subject.

    DVDJET, thanks a lot.
Well I did try your method and, bingo, it worked. Now my written dvd's can play on my playstation 2 and I would guess this method will make the disks more likely to be blayable in older dvd players.
    Again, thanks you dvdjet.

I have no problems playing my backups in my PS2. I use Verbatim DVD-R. The way that I do it is to rip with DVDDecrypter, run it through DVD2ONE, and burn using Nero Express.

  13. I have one of the original PS2's with the original DVD drivers, and every DVD backup I have made has worked flawlessly in my PS2 and XBOX.

For one movie I used DVDXCopy, the others were Laserdisc captures that I captured with Virtualdub, converted to MPEG-2 with TMPGENc, authored with DVD Complete and then finally burned with Nero.
I've used Verbatim, Memorex and Philips DVD+R's and an NEC 1100 burner.

There might be something in your process that doesn't fit in to spec, possibly, although it is very difficult sometimes to know what is causing you problems without knowing all the settings and products you are using.
