Hi, I'm getting a DVD writer fitted on Monday, and I'd like more info on the freeware DVDShrink.

When you rip the DVD, do the menus still function? or is it better to just rip the movie and leave the menus, extras etc out?

    Cheers.

I leave the menus out and do the main movie and sometimes add things at the end of the movie , such if it has a video or something. if its a layer 1 just use the dvd decrypter to do 1 for copying. if its layer 2 just use dvdshrink to do the main movie. you will not lose any quality either I use it everyday. plus when I put in my dvd player I dont have to hit any buttons it just plays and starts on its own

But if I decided to keep the menus, would they function properly?

you need to make a full cd copy and keep all the extra

or you take IFOEdit, rip all the extra you don't want, make a FUll copy with DVD2one (or DVDShrink) then you have what you want !

if you remove extra before compressing, you will have a "movie only + menu" copy since all extra are at 0meg
