  1. Hi All,

Im kinda new to this whole tech video world. I just recently bought a capture card for my machine. To be honest I dont know which one I bought. It was fairly cheap- 40 bucks (us dollars) and when I hook up the satalite I dont get any sound. Is there something that I am doing wrong? I am not too sure on what I can do to fix the problem. Any info would help. Thanks!!

    Hey there . . .

A few more details, like the brand of card, type of chipset (which should be written on the box or the instructions) and the way in which you've connected everything up to your machine, would be really useful bits of information - the fiorum is "flying blind" otherwise . . .

    Hey . . .

Sounds good so far - now, how a\exactly are you hooking up your satellite feed to be captured? Is it a case of composite video into the capture card, and audio into the card as well? Or does audio go straight into the "line in" port of your sound card?

  5. the aux cable is put directly into the card. I assume the audio is input as well through the aux cable, but I think that I may be wrong? I think that I need to get AV chords to plug in to the sat receiver.... Yeah???

  6. Yes, I have the same problem. I don't believe the card will pick up the sound from the coaxle cable. You need composite A/V. I guess you could go coaxle and just hook up the sound through composite.
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

  7. I think that I need to get the AV cable to the 1/4 inch connector so I can hook it up to the card. I think that I can hook it up to the sound card as well. I guess I will have to run to the radio shack. Thats how they stay in business. I was hoping to aviod running all the chords across the house, the lady is gonna be mad at me thanks for the info all

  8. How about hooking up the coaxle to a VCR in the room you are in then go out of the vcr in composite to the computer...
