  1. Does anyone know why this happens? I'm trying to split the file and reencode them as mpgs but the screen in tmpgenc is just black. I don't know why this hasn't happened before. This is a DIVX/Dvd rip of the movie.

  2. When this has happened to me, it's been because I didn't have the correct video codec installed.

  3. I get this problem with XviD. I have to use the fourCC Changer to change to DivX.

  4. Use gspot from the tools menu to check the file and then install the relevant codecs

Are you using CBR or VBR? VBR gives a black preview screen for the first pass(es).

  6. I have no idea what any of you just said. If it is a problem with a certain codec how do I find out which one I need and why this happens? Also on AVI files when I reencode the tint of screen keeps changing in the end file result this doesnt happen when I reencode mpg or m2v.

  7. This might help.
Open up TMPGEnc. Click on Option, Enviromental Setting, VFAPI Plug In. Change the priority of "DirectShow Multimedia File Reader to postion 1 or 2 by right clicking on it and seting the higher priority. You will see that it will move to the top.

Try this it worked for me.

    Cheers
