    Is this possible?

I've got a Sony Vaio PCG-FX240 that I feverishly edit video on-- about 3 years now. (Adobe Premier). I purchased an external firewire 120gb hard drive (Beyond Micro) to accompany it. Works wonderfully, 3 weeks into it.
I hauled off & bought a Sony DRX-500ULX to burn DVDs with and NOW I'M TOTALLY FREAKING OUT.

The Vaio comes with a 15gb hard drive partitioned into two, C & D drive. Sonic MyDVD, in the software that comes with the burner, apparently requires 10gb of free hard drive space to function. I installed it on C, and it froze upon opening. Re-installed it on D, same thing. I called Sony Tech support & they said it needs to be on C, & the 10gb needs to be ON THE SAME DRIVE. (i only have 2.66gb free) "Send it back." She said. And it was very quiet.

    Did I pull a full-on Barney?

    Is this true?
    Is there a smaller program?

Thank you very much for any help you can offer,
    dan

  2. The tech support I found on Sony was so-so. I don't know if you need to
return your dvd burner. I also have a Sony Vaio and I did have enough space to run it (25gb) but I have around 23gb to process vacation video. I am also running Premire 6.5 as my editing software. You should be able
to install it to your new h.d. without any problems

    Thanks man,
Yeah, I did try installing it on the external hard drive-- twice. It installed, then everything froze during restart. I think the software is wacky.
The Sony tech gave me absolutely NO suggestions, no direction, nothing. Very short, very rude. I actually told her she sounded like she was under the gun, like she wasn't telling me something. Now that I think about it, it was pretty erie.
ANYHOO, I'm glad to hear your burner works, maybe I'll try different software....
    something small
