    Hello,

    My Setup is:
    TDK IndiDVD 4x +R/+RW
    4x Ritek DVD+R just received

I burned 2 discs at 4x and neither worked in my standalone or desktop. I used DVD Decrypter to copy, DVD2One and then Nero to burn. I was not happy because I thought that I won't even be able to use these discs. So I figured I would give these discs another shot at 2.4x and it worked in my standalone and desktop. I bought these discs to cutdown on burn time, I also paid a little more for them than what I normally pay for DVD+R's. I usually purchase Verbatim 2.4's or Fuji 2.4's for $99 or less for 50 and those have all worked flawlessly. Can anyone recommend anything to try to get it to burn successfully at 4x to make it work? Nero reports no errors when burning. Errors only occur when I try to play the DVD that I burned at 4x. So my question still stands, what is the point of 4x if it doesn't work??

Neither of the two that I burned at 4x would play on my laptop pc, desktop pc, standalone dvd player, my sisters dvd player, nada. The one at 2.4x plays on every one of those mentioned.

Ritek are horrible discs. They are cheap, and some people get good results, but there are just as many bad results from those brands of discs. You got what you paid for.

I suggest returning them because they are crap.

If you can burn with the same software/hardware setup using other discs that work fine, it's the media being uncooperative.

And if the company refuses to issue a refund, and you used credit card, call up the old CC and file for a chargeback because the company sending non-working junk and refuses to cooperate on any kind of return.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  5. It very well might be your player. One of my standalones will only play DVD-R discs burned at 1X. The same drive wont play any (+) discs or RW discs (- or +).

Get a new Panasonic or Toshiba DVD player, they play everything! Panasonic new models even play DVD-Ram. Best Buy has both brands with progressive scan models for dirt cheep prices.

  6. Well I have burned over 300 4x Ritek DVD-R without a single coaster but I don;t know about the Ritek 4x DVD+R media. The only 4x DVD+R media I have burned is Verbatim and they burned and worked fine on any player. I have burned the Verbatim on my Sony DRU500ax and Nec 1100a burner.

As far as the player is concerned I dont think that is the problem because I couldnt play it on my computers either. It seems that burning these discs at 4x just plain old doesnt work but burning at 2.4x works fine. I guess I just paid more money for some 4x discs that I can only cook at 2.4x. I should have just stuck with the Verbatims or Fujis. I just bought 50 Fujis for $79 at Best Buy but I had this order pending for the Riteks, I should have cancelled my order but I thought I would give them a shot. Chalk it down as a $125 learning experience.

The prob could lie in the burning. I just got my dvd burner and have found out copy to dvd the best to burn. I authored and burnt with pS8 and Reeldvd etc but all gave me skips when i weanted to fast forward more than 2x on the same cheap media, but worked perfect with copytodvd. And therefore come to the conclusion most blank dvds work great but its the burning proggies which are sh*t. I burnt on the sony Dvd+-RW came with the sony buner and it did not work in my Liteon 163 and Omni 3300d dvd player, and was cursing the format, but a reburn with copytodvd and it reads both in my rom and dvd player, same as lazer dvd-r's i have

  10. umm, sounds like ripper has his head up some where its not suppose to be, the +R format is fine I have burned over 300 of them and they have worked in "ANY" DVD player I have tried, have not found one yet that won't play them.
now, I have found out that recordnow max is a better program to burn your media over NERO, might give that a try at 4x. Plus riteks are cheaper media, I have stuck with the verbatuims I get at sams for 30 pack for $49, yeah 2.4x is a little slower, but I'll wait until the 4x meida gets cheaper and more reliable.

    thxkid,

I hear ya on the Verbatims, they are excellent as have been the Fujis. 2.4x is slower but I really dont have a problem with waiting a little longer if i dont get any coasters. I have not seen the verbatims at sams website, have you purchased of their website or actually gone into the store??
