  1. I have four 800mb clips I am trying to get onto one DVD-R and when i use the crapy bundled software that came with my DVD burner it thinks it is too much for one DVD-R even though it is not even close to 4.7 GB which a DVD-R can hold.

Is there a way to get the four 800mb mpg video clips to fit on one DVD-R and play one-after-another?

  2. What I do is take the SVCD mpeg and convert it to CVD. I keep the MaX bitrate and I can usually get 5 hours on a dvd.

I use DVD2avi to switch from mpeg to d2v then use Tmpgenc to reencode it to CVD.

    or just use DVD iso.

  5. First, the mpegs must be in dvd compliant mpeg2 format which can be done with TmpgEnc. You can then author the dvd with any number of programs, i.e. MovieFactory, Maestro, etc. which can be found under the tools section on this site.

What program do you use? If your not interested in chapters or menues, use MyDvd which comes with the Sony dvd burner or use the demo. Really need more info from you about what authoring program you are using.

I made the mpges using vcdgear so i can only assume they are mpeg2 compliant

I have been trying to use MyDvd but it says it is too big for one DVD (too big for 2 DVDs even). How can a 4.7gb DVD be more than filled by 3.2gb worth of files?

As for that, the install file requires .net framework or something like that which i dont have...and dosnt it do the exact same thing as vcdgear?

    micro9mm,

Sorry I haven't been around to answer in a while. Hopefully you haven't given up yet.

Your video files need to be in a one of a few different compliant formats.

    MPEG1, 352x240, 1150k
    MPEG2, 740x480, <6000k (?)
    MPEG2, 352x480, <6000k (?)

Or something close to that, and there may be a couple of others, and all must be 48k audio.

Open them up in virtualdub and get the full properties of the files there and list them and we'll see what we can do from there.

What is probably happening is that you don't have 'Don't convert compliant mpegs' checked off and MF2 wants to convert the videos. On the advancde button/preferences you can use the 'Change MPEG Settings' buttons to set it to the same setttings as your video. Once it sees that the videos and now compliant, they should fit on one DVDR.

If they don't meet any of those standard settings, then you'll need to re-encode. Though I would have another tool do that instead of MF2.
