Please help !!!! I cant play dat files on my pc anymore

Please help me, am i losing it ??? or what ?
I have w2k installed
nimo codec pac all codecs i can think of, and i still can't play vcd movies
with any pc dvd or vcd player, i tried at least 10 of em and it says
"cannot playback format is not supported" i do not have a clue what this is all about i have also installed aspi drivers so it can't be that either ???
"even when i open the .dat file it wont play in any player i have. anyone please help me with this im losing my ******* mind on this one.

Play them with WinDVD or PowerDVD ( try file and disk mode, mine doesn't do VCD in disk mode). Did you try file/open in WMP?

i found the problem myself i had installed powerdvd and it fucked up my whole computer. i never gonna use that prog again, im currently using winfastdvd works fine.
